The Maxine Hallworth GKT Rugby Scholarship
The Maxine Hallworth GKT Rugby Scholarship consists of £1,000 awarded to a first year medical or dental student who has demonstrated merit both on the rugby pitch and in their studies prior to attending University. The scholarship aims to allow the selected student to continue excelling while at College, both on the pitch and off.
This scholarship has been made possible by Dr Terence Gibson (Guy's, Medicine, 1966 & President of the GKT Rugby Club) and is named in memory of his daughter Maxine, who was a keen rugby supporter. The scholarship fund has also been supported by Guy's alumni who have generously contributed towards this new initiative which aims to help maintain rugby at the Health Schools.
To apply for the Maxine Hallworth GKT Rugby Scholarship, applicants need to fill an application form, providing a personal statement of no more than 500 words on why they believe they should receive the scholarship. A written reference from the applicant's rugby coach (either at their school or rugby team should also be provided. The closing date for the applications is 25th of January 2010.

The Paul Scanlan Memorial Bursary
The Paul Scanlan Memorial Bursary and St. Thomas's Hospital RFC Prize, are now available to Medical or Dental students starting their third years. The bursary is to be an annual prize and is open to those who have just finished Year Two / or entering first year of clinical medicine.
The Paul Scanlan Memorial Bursary is worth £1000 and the STHRFC Prize is worth £500. It is open to both male and female applicants who have excelled academically, and who are contributing widely and enthusiastically to the rugby club.
Applicants will be informed of the date for applications in due course.
