Guy's People

Welcome to the newest section of the illustrious website of GHRFC. This section has been designed so that any individual can send a picture of themselves or their fellow team mates in action both 'on and off' the pitch with accompanying caption. Both photos you are proud of and those you prefer to forget should be sent to webmaster@guysrugby.com

Braindeath Tour 1987

This photo is from the infamous Braindeath Tour 1987 to Plymouth and has been kindly supplied by Matt Rose (Guy's 1984-88, Penguin, Back-row with head band). The photo also shows the late great Paul Scanlan (second from the right leaning in towards the centre). The kit is that of Plymouth Jesters. The tourists in their haste to head west left the kit at Guy's, however fortunately also left Charlie Pugh (second year medic, but went no further) at a petrol station on the M4, dressed as a commando with fully camoflaged face. The resourceful young gentlemen thumbed a lift back to Guy's, enjoyed an evening in the bar, and the night in the company of a young lady, and rejoined the tour a day later with the kit. The Plymouth Jesters were a hospitable bunch but only had an oil drums worth of hot water to wash four teams and without doubt had the smallest, coldest set of changing rooms in the rugby playing world.
